HAVANA._Elected Latin America and the Caribbean´s best female athlete in 2014 according to the Prensa Latina new agency´s annual poll, Colombian triple jumper Caterine Ibargüen shared that honor with Argentinian football star Lionel Messi.

<<ibargüen-messi-latin>>This was the second time both Ibargüen and Messi have been chosen the region´s most outstanding sportspersons. They first won that distinction in 2011.

Ibargüen ended 2014 as the world´s top figure in her event after having won her six competitions in the Diamond League and registered a personal best of 15.31 meters in Moncaco´s Grand Prix. That result is ranked as the fifth best in the history of women´s triple jump and the best over the past six years.
