BRASILIA.- The third Meeting of Cities and Universities will take place in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from April 11 to 13, with debates focused on local and cultural development, social inclusion, territorial planning and environment.
Sources from the Mercocities’ permanent secretariat said that the threeday meeting at the Federal University of Rio Grande del Sur, Porto Alegre, will pave the way for exchanging experiences and good cooperation practices between cities and universities.
The participants will also analyze the public and institutional policies for promoting these experiences, while suggesting ways to strengthen them.
In addition, the forum will include a panel entitled Border Development toward a More Inclusive Integration. Its objective being to identify the best ways for cities and universities to develop an intentional debate with actions aimed at attaining local development in border regions.
The experiences, resulting from some 50 exchange actions between cities and universities from Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay will be made known during the event, the sources added.
The works shown will be included in the good practices data bank of the Urban Observatory of Technological-social Transferences and Innovations of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities and Mercocities.Share on FB Share on TT
