The coastline of Santa Cruz del Norte, in the Cuban province of Mayabeque, played host to the sixth edition of Cuba’s largest electronic music festival, under the tiltle of “VeranoenJibacoa” (Summer in Jibacoa).
Featuring nine Cuban DJs that included Lejardi and Xander Black, the Hermanos Saíz Association and local government sponsored event brought nearly 30,000 young Cubans together.
Several music companies like AgenciaCubana del Rap (Cuban Rap Agency) and Laboratorio Nacional de Música Electrónica (National Electronic Music Laboratory) joined forces to ensure the success of the summer festival.
Music genres like rap and rock alternated between three performance areas.
Osamu, Karamba, NubeRoja, Primera Base, Revelación Urbana and Enfusión were amongst guest bands.
Noel Soca, provincial director of education, culture and sport, told the press shortly before the event’s opening that the event attracts a large number of young people, mostly university students, so “we wanted to offer them the best possibly conceived cultural event possible”.
People from all around Cuba come to the festival, mostly from Mayabeque, Matanzas and Havana, the bordering areas.
The concerts began at night and continued until daybreak. As previously, participants could rent tents at reasonable prices with room for four persons.Share on FB Share on TT
